Aebersold vol. 76

Some people really aren't into the Aebersold play along workbooks. I have a number of them, but most of them aren't the volumes with actual tunes on them. Rather, they're the 'nuts-and-bolts' type that explain how tunes work.

The very best among these is Volume 76- 'How to Learn Tunes', by the famed David Baker. It takes you through the most common harmonic formulae that make up most of the tunes you'll run across. It's great ear training and will help you pick up new tunes a lot faster. You could even use it with the Amazing Slow Downer to transpose into different keys.
